5. What is a Crypto Wallet? 🔐💰
A crypto wallet is a digital tool that helps you store, send, and receive cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. Just like you use a regular wallet to keep your cash, a crypto wallet stores your digital money — but it does it using blockchain technology.
However, unlike a real wallet, a crypto wallet doesn’t store coins physically. It stores private keys — secure digital passwords that give you access to your crypto.
✅ Types of Crypto Wallets:
-
Hot Wallets (Internet-connected):
-
Examples: Trust Wallet, MetaMask, WazirX Wallet
-
Easy to use, good for daily use
-
But slightly more risky if hacked
-
-
Cold Wallets (Offline storage):
-
Examples: Ledger, Trezor
-
Very secure (not connected to the internet)
-
Best for long-term holding (HODLing)
-
🔑 Two Key Elements:
-
Public Key – like your account number (used to receive crypto)
-
Private Key – like your ATM PIN (keep it secret, used to send crypto)
📌 Example:
If someone wants to send you Bitcoin, you give them your public key (wallet address). But to send Bitcoin out, you must use your private key.
